About

Maleana is a Florida native and current resident of Washington, D.C. She graduated in 2018 from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and in 2025 from Wake Forest University with a Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biology/Genome Sciences. She lives with her husband, who is a member of the US Navy Band (go Navy!), and 3 cats, Keena, Winston, and Lilly. She is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine in support of the Uniformed Services University/Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute, where she studies the effects of ionizing radiation on chronic inflammation. In her free time, she enjoys blogging, running, and cooking as well as going on motorcycle and scuba diving trips with her husband!
